@@@ Angle or Circular Measurement @@@

Angle Measurement is a fundamental skill that all students should to be proficient at

as well as not only measuring a given angle but constructing angles from a Protractor.

The image provided below is a common protractor found in many elementary, middle and

high schools.  It is used in elementary as well as advanced geometry angular measurement.

Students should be given plenty of time to experiment and collaborate with fellow classmates

when learning how to use a protractor to measure provided angles and drawing required angles.

There are four basic angle types in Plane Euclidean Geometry:

Acute = (00 < 900)            Right = 900            Obtuse= ( 900 < 1800) Straight = 1800

It is confusing when the angles appear in the opposite direction.

Student need practice with angles in all directions both upright and up side down.

Practice is needed with individual angles as well as angle within and outside of shapes.

After reviewing these ideas and images, how about a:  è  *    Play the Measure Angle Game   *

Remember the bottom of an angle goes on the line just above the bottom of the Protractor.

The litte white hole at the bottom middle of the Protractor is placed on the vertex of the Angle.

Also, Teaching and Learning Protractor Skills in a WWW environment is a 21st Century Skill.
